11 Lessons for a Happier and Authentic Life

Updated: Jan 10

  1. We don’t know the battle someone is fighting. Everyone is worthy of kindness.

  2. Self-forgiveness is not often taught in our culture. It needs practice. Remember that I’m worthy of extending myself the same level of forgiveness as I extend to others.

  3. Life's experiences are fleeting unless we turn them into memories. Take the time to create meaningful memories within the daily rhythms of life.

  4. Regularly sitting with myself, alone and in silence, is the most nourishing gift for my soul. Make time for this consciously.

  5. Respect the seasons of life. When it’s time to grow – learn. When there is drive and motivation – experiment. When there is need to rest – slow down. It’s all a part of the journey.

  6. Not everyone will like me, appreciate me, or even understand me. Stop seeking approval and start accepting this reality. It will make life lighter and easier.

  7. When the going gets tough, it is NOT important to toughen up and get going. I am allowed time to mourn, to feel the hard emotions, to soften, and to forge a path forward with a more authentic inner resilience.

  8. Loud conversations, noises, and music no longer serve my soul. It’s okay to shed that part of my identity and make way for experiences and people that are wholesome, nourishing, and comfortable with silence.

  9. I will go through many cycles of death and rebirth in this lifetime if I choose to keep growing. I honor all my old selves that have died in the past few years, and I welcome who I am becoming.

  10. Gratitude is the antidote to many big and scary things. Take time to pray, practice faith in the loving universe, and express gratitude often.

  11. My gut is my health meter. Listen to it and make changes in diet and lifestyle to cultivate a happy gut microbiome. Investments in my health are valid and important. Health starts from within – quite literally!
