2024 Goals? Do this first. (Printable guide included)

Isn't the idea of a new year being a clean slate just fantastic? I'm all for it!

But you know what's not so fantastic? The crazy pressure we tend to put on ourselves when we kick off that fresh start.

I've noticed that many of my clients get all pumped up about plotting out their goals for the upcoming year, only to find themselves stuck with a list of actions they think they should accomplish.

The trouble? Not everyone is clear on what's driving those goals. And guess what? When the motivation is murky, those goals start feeling like a drag before the first few months are even up.

Many other clients focus on what they lack in order to formulate some goals. As a result, if some goals are missed, the sense of lack blows up!

Now, don't get me wrong – I'm not anti-goals. I'm just pro-mindful goals, and I'm here to lend a hand.

Here's the game plan:

Before you dive into jotting down your resolutions or goals, take some quality time with the printable guide I've tucked at the end of this post. Ask yourself the questions in there, and don't be afraid to dig deep for those answers. Here are a couple of tactical tips:

  • Approach the guide with self-compassion and encourage yourself to look for your strengths and bravery

  • If you hit a blank wall in a certain section, rewind through your year month by month. Odds are you'll stumble upon some action, incident, or experience that hits home.

  • Bear in mind, progress isn't always flashy. It's on you to spot those subtle shifts within yourself and not slap a label for 'big' or 'small' on the strides you've made.

My hope is that once you have completed this printable guide, you will have a big picture view of the year gone by and a deeper understanding of yourself. Carry that knowledge and weave it into your goals or resolution making process.

Craft goals that steer your life in a direction you truly desire, while recognizing and respecting the incredible person you are!

A very happy new year to you all!
