Preparing for Your Reiki Session

To make the most of this experience, here are a few simple steps you can follow to ensure a peaceful, balanced, and receptive state of mind.

1. Journal Your Intention

Take a few moments to write down why you are seeking Reiki at this time. It could be for relaxation, healing, clarity, or emotional balance. Setting a clear intention allows your mind and body to align with the session's purpose.

2. Avoid Media Consumption Beforehand

For at least one hour before your session, avoid watching TV, using social media, or consuming news. Quiet reflection or simply being present will help you arrive with a clear and calm mind.

3. Limit Caffeine

If possible, reduce your caffeine intake on the day of your session. This helps you stay more relaxed and allows your energy to flow more freely during the session.

4. Carry a Positive and Open Mind

Reiki is about energy flow, and your openness plays a key role in your experience. Trust the process, and be open to whatever feelings or sensations arise during your session.

5. Wear Comfortable Clothing

Loose, comfortable clothing will help you relax fully. You will remain fully clothed throughout the session, so dress in something that allows you to feel at ease.

6. Hydrate

Drink water before and after your session. Staying hydrated supports your body’s natural healing processes and helps release any energetic blockages.

7. Avoid Heavy Meals

While it’s important to stay nourished, avoid eating a heavy meal right before the session, as it may make you feel sluggish or uncomfortable lying down. A light snack is fine.

8. Arrive Early or Take Time to Ground Yourself

Give yourself a few extra minutes before your session to sit quietly, breathe, and ground your energy. Whether that’s arriving early or spending a few moments in stillness at home, it helps calm the mind and prepare you for the session.

9. Keep Your Schedule Open

Try to avoid scheduling anything immediately after your Reiki session. Allow yourself some time to reflect and relax, and in case the session extends a little longer, you won’t feel rushed. This helps you fully absorb the benefits of the session without any pressure to hurry off.

Final Thoughts

Reiki is a personal journey, and each session is unique. Approach it with curiosity, self-compassion, and openness. You don’t need to have any expectations—simply allow the energy to guide you.
