Three ways to get to Un-Stuck

Ever felt your energy was stuck? As if you are in a slump and want to just shake a dreadful weight.

Try these three energy unclogging activities.

These are intentionally simple. Some might even feel a little silly and that is great! Step into the silly to do things you rarely do - a wonderful way to step away from your usual response.

I recommend trying these things every few hours on days when you feel most stuck.

1. Shake it off:

Dogs shake themselves to reset their nervous system. It is a message to their brain that they are ready for transition. Instead of reacting to stress by lurching at people, dogs just shake it off!

I recommend you do this in a space where you are unwatched.

Start swaying your body gently and shake your hands as if you are shaking off water. Then move your body as is intuitive. There is no choreography or rhythm. Use your whole body - fold forward, rise, shake side to side - do what feels right.

I often move from a gentle to a more rigorous pace. At the end, I can feel my heart pumping and my mind is in a different space.

Take care to notice what is around you so that you do not hurt yourself as you move.

2. Look up!

We spend a lot of time looking at things near distance – phones, laptops, books, our face in the mirror. Look at something in the distance for perspective - building far away, a tree, a road sign up the hill.

This will encourage you to look up from the devices, check-into the surroundings and create some space for perspective. Additional bonus that this activity is great for a healthy eye sight!

3. Self-massage:

Pat yourself down from the shoulders to the hands. If you hold emotions in your chest, you can try tapping your chest and sighing.

I enjoy massaging my feet or getting on an acupuncture/marma mat to stimulate my feet. I have often noticed an energy boost after 10 to 15 min of walking on a marma mat.
